Best Restaurants in Germantown & Schnitzelburg Neighborhood of Louisville, KY

The Germantown and Schnitzelburg neighborhoods in Louisville, Kentucky are historic german-inspired neighborhood in the heart of Louisville. The neighborhoods are very conveniently located just outside of downtown Louisville with less than a 10 minute drive to some of Louisville’s top attractions like Whiskey Row, The Kentucky Exposition Center, The Kentucky International Convention Center, The Muhammad Ali International Airport, University of Louisville, Churchill Downs and more. The Germantown Neighborhood in Louisville sits adjacent to Schnitzelburg and Shelby Park, really creating a great community of local restaurants, trendy shops and breweries. Here are some of our favorites.

Breakfast and Coffee:

Good Folks Coffee: This bookstore, bar and cafe is the best of so many worlds!

Foko Coffee: Mexican style breakfast from breakfast burritos and tacos to strawberry pancakes and banana nut waffles. They also serve lunch!

Breakfast AF: Breakfast by day, pizza by night. This spot serves it all from an all american breakfast to avocado toast, pancakes, empanadas and more.

Logan Street Market: Louisville’s indoor market with 25,000 square feet filled with 25+ locally owned and operated food, beverage, provisions and artisan shops.It’s cool collections allows you to pick exactly what you want, and it’s pretty cool to walk around and see.

La Pana Bakery Y Cafe: An Oaxacan-Inspired Micro Bakery & Cafe in Shelby Park, La Pana Bakery is famous for their fluffy bakers items and amazing coffee drinks. They have a cute window with sweet indoors next to Logan Street market. Perfect for a quick bite to start your day.

Big Bad Breakfast: Serving southern breakfast favorites like custom-created meats, fresh biscuits and preserves, locally roasted coffee and some of the best cocktails you’ll find anywhere, this is a must stop!

Nords Bakery: This is a historic Louisville Bakery, for good reason. Grab a dozen donuts, or just one, and you won’t be disappointed.

Synergos: One of the most beloved coffee shops around Louisville. With several locations across the city, and their coffee sold in many other coffee shops, you can’t go wrong grabbing a coffee or latte from this staple coffee shop.

Heine Brothers: Another staple coffee shop of the city, with great seasonal flavors and a cool vibe, this is a great spot to grab a quick bite and your daily cup of joe!

Casual Lunch & Dinner:

Hauck’s Corner: Offers a vibrant blend of delicious food and expertly crafted cocktails in a welcoming atmosphere. They have an amazing patio that even has an area for kids to play. It’s a must stop visit on your trip!

Toasty’s Tavern: Your trusty neighborhood tavern full of good vibes and good food.

The Post Pizza: Serves up New York style pizza by the slice, or by the pie. This popular spot is loved by locals for it’s delicious food and cool atmosphere.

Four Pegs Smokehouse & Bar: Louisville’s premiere gastropubs, specializing in smoked foods and inventive dishes.

Pizza AF: The breakfast AF location turns to a Pizza joint by night serving up wood-fired pizzas, subs and more.

Fine Dining

North of Bourbon: Southern cooking with a bourbon twist, this spot was named to the New York Times list of Top 50 US restaurants in 2024. What’s also cool, make a reservation and dine in one of their signature Bourbon Barrel tables. That is right, dine in a Bourbon Barrel! Not sure you can immerse yourself much more in the bourbon culture of Kentucky than that!

Sarino: Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine with a really neat atmosphere and patio.

Perso: Perso is an open kitchen restaurant featuring seasonal ingredients, house made charcuterie, craft cocktails and Roman style pizza. They even have a secret garden bar open March through October called Segreto Garden Bar.

Dessert and Sweet Treats

Baked AF On Goss: You can’t go wrong with a sweet treat from Baked AF. From cookies and cupcakes, to creamy milkshakes, this spot will settle that sweet craving. HIGHLY recommend the milkshakes, the whipped topping is a mix of mashmellowy, cool whipy goodness, it’s….chef’s kiss!

Dairy Del:This neighborhood favorite serves up the ice cream (including vegan options) and fun foods like Corndogs, Chili Dogs & more!

Monnik Beer Company: Brewery and restaurant serving up delicious bar snacks and entrees like schnitzel.  

Atrium Brewing: The logan street taproom of Atrium brewing serves up delicious brews and Red Top hot dogs.

Hop Atomica: Serving up their brews with wood-fired pizza, this spot has a really neat outdoor patio and great cocktails in addition to their signature brews.
