You're here for the big race, why not learn more about how these athletes come to be, how they train, and where they live. Some of our favorites are Highpointe Farm Training Center and Hermitage farms.

9. Go to a Kentucky Derby Party
There are parties, brunches and events galore the week of The Kentucky Derby. Louisville Tourism has a great list you can access here. I’ve personally attended the Oaks Brunch & Bet at 21C, and the Fillies and Stallions event. You really can’t go wrong with any of the events you choose to attend but make sure to get tickets in advance. Many of these events will sell out!
10. Go to the track!
This might sounds like an obvious one, but there are racing events ALL WEEK the week of the Kentucky Derby. Contrary to the popular believe that it’s just one day or even just one race. You can watch the horses train in the morning during Dawn at the Downs, or attend one of the earlier days in the week. Check out what’s going on Derby Week at the track in this Ultimate Guide to Derby Week.
