Hi, I’m Chelsea – Your My Kentucky Bucket List Guide

I cannot thank you enough for being here! Whether you found me on Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, Pinterest (Yes I am everywhere!) or just a quick google search – I am so glad you found this page!

So at this point, you know a little about me, and my journey to create this website that started in 2023.

So how did I get here, sharing this page? What do I do for work? Is this my full time job? What is my background in? Well here are the deets!

Let’s start from about 10 years before My Kentucky Bucket List started, that’s when the base was set. As you likely read before getting to this page, I didn’t move to Kentucky until 2015 ( I was 22 at the time) and it was once I got here that I quickly fell in love with this place and the people in it. But prior to living in Kentucky, I studied Advertising and Public Relations in my undergraduate program at Southeast Missouri State University (GO SEMO!).

In my last year of college, I worked at a VERY tiny advertising agency that supported local businesses in the community managing their social media, websites and email programs. in 2015, I moved to Louisville and started working at one of the biggest agencies in the city on some National brands and accounts while starting the Communications program at Bellarmine University at the graduate level. All of these things really built up my foundational business knowledge and marketing knowledge to know what marketing success looked like. I eventually moved to corporate marketing, which I still do today. If you’re REALLY interested in some of the other foundation that got me here, I talk about it HERE in the Commonwealth Connections podcast!

It wasn’t until 2023 after really life started settling for me that I decided to create My Kentucky Bucket List. I always knew growing up that I wanted to own something, a business, but had no idea what I wanted to do. I actually started my collegiate career as a business management major but quickly decided against that once calculus got me. After I moved to Kentucky I was very motivated to be successful in my career, and that is what I focused on. I climbed the ladder, went to grad school, moved from agency marketing to corporate marketing where I continued to climb. I focused on growing in may roles and getting to the next level as much as possible, even through finding my now husband, buying our first home, the 2020 pandemic, even through getting married and my first pregnancy. Then this beautiful baby boy was born in 2022, and my whole world shifted and suddenly success looked very different to me. Where I once saw success in a title and the paycheck I brought home, it now shifted to what can I do to provide for my family while getting to make memories, give my son the best life and I quickly realized that success (to me) is time. Time to spend with my family and doing things that truly better my life and make me happy.

Enter My Kentucky Bucket List! In 2023 one night, my husband and I were sitting on the couch watching TV. He had started his own Podcast and was just loving putting time and effort into this new venture, so we were talking about that and I decided (being the competitive person I am), well I want something too. I started a new Instagram page, and told him I was going to start sharing about stuff that we do and eventually maybe I could start working with some local companies to do it. That spur of the moment was one of my best decisions yet.

As much as I wish this was my full time job, I am not there….yet! But it is people like you that follow along and the business’ I partner with that help me get closer every day. The more support that comes in through this page, the more activities I am able to explore, share and content I am able to put out there.

If you have any recommendations or places we should check out, send me a DM on Instagram or an email! Or if you want to just chat or connect, I’d love that too!
